This article reminds me of a battle that a nearby community in Oregon faced in the last few years as AT&T had ideas of utilizing tax credits to fund the building of a new mobile phone tower. Aside from the potential hazards to the health of local citizens, this tower would have been an eyesore in this pristine coastal town. Ironically that is how they had to fight it – based on how ugly it would have been and how much it would stick out.

You might be wondering why they wouldn’t simply argue on the merits of the health effects?

It’s called the “Telecommunications Act of 1996″ and it’s a doozy. This blatently unconstitutional document forbids anyone apposing the construction of a tower from apposing based on health effects. The idea was to speed up the construction of new towers by creating less valid opposition. At the time there was less data to support the idea the these towers were hazardous although the belief was still held strong by many.

I think the “Telecommunications Act of 1996″ needs to be repealed. It’s terribly outdated and favors industry far too much. What do you think?

Windhoek — Renewed international debate on mobile phones and cancer has given strength to Windhoek’s upper class suburb residents who oppose the erection of a mobile telecommunication tower in their residential area to continue to resist its erection near their homes.

This has irritated the country’s largest mobile network operator, MTC, which says it is not the only one with communication towers in the country.

Residents at Bowker Hill, Windhoek, have now added the danger to radiation exposure, and possibly cancer, as one of the main reasons why MTC should not be allowed to set up a telecommunication mast in their area.

The mobile network operator claims unfair treatment, saying residents are exaggerating the truth, misleading the public on the issue of radiation and cancer, while they remain mum about towers erected by competing mobile companies.

“Truth of the matter is that these few residents want to proclaim Bowker Hill as a conservancy and that is why they do not want a tower in the area, while they themselves make use of cellphones that are powered by towers in surrounding areas,” says MTC chief spokesperson Tim Ekandjo.

He says the absence of a tower in that area would congest network, resulting in more radiation – which residents claim to want to avoid – since any call made in an area where network is poor uses more power.

Ekandjo says the public must first understand that the World Health Organisation has not confirmed that cellular phones cause cancer, and its latest “findings are clear that there is no evidence mobile phones can cause brain cancer”.

WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer recently reclassified cellphones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”, a classification of possible risk and not an actual confirmation.

Interestingly, the International Agency for Research on Cancer also classifies coffee, pickled vegetables, and other diverse items such as exposure to car exhaust and doing nightshift work, as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”.

WHO classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” based on an increased risk for Glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer associated with the use of wireless phone.

It did however admit that the classification was based on limited and inadequate information, as well as weak mechanistic evidence at its disposal.

MTC is adhering to recommendations by the WHO on the matter and Ekandjo points at “voluntarily measuring its base stations to ensure that it not only complies with international standards, but radiation limits are way less than what international standards prescribe”.

Thus far, MTC is the only telecommunications operator that complies with WHO recommendations and had such measures independently verified, said Ekandjo.

MTC says the issue of radiation should not only be confined to MTC towers in Namibia but to all towers and all items now classified as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” and that a holistic approach is taken by the entire industry.

“We will support the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia in every endeavour to ensure all consumers are protected by being the shining example in terms of compliance and carry out studies that will guide any regulation to this effect,” he said.

Do cellphones cause cancer?
Let’s start with this one from MacClean’s.ca: “Despite mounting concerns that cell phones may cause cancer, a new study—a major review of previously published research by a committee of international experts—concluded there was no convincing evidence the devices cause cancer, Reuters reports. It also found a lack of biological mechanisms by which a phone’s radio signals could trigger tumours.”

Now, for the other side of the buzz from News.com: “In a report issued today, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which is an arm of the WHO, said it now lists mobile phone use in the same category as lead, gasoline engine exhaust, and chloroform. Officially, cell phone radiation is listed as a ‘carcinogenic hazard.’ “

Confused? Let’s sort out the buzz from both sides.

First, there is a trend to the results of the studies. Most, if not all, studies that were funded by the cell phone or telecommunications industry have found that cell phones are not linked or associated with cancer. Is that surprise?

On the other hand, the majority of independent studies, those not funded by the cell phone industry, have found a strong link or association between cell phones and cancer, especially brain cancer. Are the results a coincidence?

Now, let’s go back to the tobacco industry of a few decades ago. Back then, every single study funded by the tobacco industry found no causal relationship between cigarettes and lung cancer. We now know otherwise. In fact, for a brief period, the tobacco industry was using doctors to promote their cigarettes as a healthy way to relief stress.

So, is the cell phone industry the tobacco industry of the 21st century? Let’s do some research.

Some cell phones are now coming with warning labels, such as:

“This device emits electromagnetic radiation, exposure to which may cause brain cancer. Users, especially children and pregnant women, should keep this device away from the head and body.”

And From alphabiocentrix.com: “Studies with mammals show that EMR transmitted from cell phones creates portals in the Blood-Brain Barrier big enough to allow large albumin molecules to pass through and begin to pool around the ganglia of brain cells. Not only does this accumulation of albumin impede intercellular communication in the brain, but researchers are concerned that the portals that will allow such large molecules to pass across the protective Blood-Brain Barrier would also allow a host of smaller, more brain-toxic substances into the brain as well.”

From Discovery.com: “In an experiment conducted by Dr. Ashok Agarwal, of the Cleveland Clinic, two groups of men were tested for the effects of cell phone exposure on sperm count. One group formed the control group, and the other was the test group. The test group was exposed to cell phones set in talk mode in close proximity to their bodies for one hour. The men were tested both before and after their exposure to cell phone radiation. At the end of the experiment, not only did the test group show a decrease in their sperm counts, they also demonstrated a significant increase in their production of free radicals.”

Himmm. Exposure to radiation, such as those from cell phones, can open the blood brain barrier. We have electronic radiation, blood brain barrier (BBB), and free radicals. That’s quite a load. So, let’s do some more research on them.

A grounded review of the question of harm from mobile phones… I’ve been working hard on a new report which covers the issue of harm from mobile phone radiation (hence not posting much for awhile ;-) Until my new report is out this article from a reporter from Time magazine was actually much better than I thought it would be…

Back in May, a group of experts from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) made waves when they warned that mobile phones may indeed raise the risk for some brain tumors.

As I wrote in TIME:

To the surprise of many cancer experts, IARC classified cell-phone-radiation exposure as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” The panel put cell phones in category 2B on the agency’s willfully unhelpful scale, below sure carcinogens like cigarette smoke and in the same category as the pesticide DDT and gasoline-engine exhaust. “A review of the human evidence of epidemiological studies shows an increased risk of glioma and malignant types of brain cancer in association with wireless-phone use,” Dr. Jonathan Samet, the chairman of the IARC working group, told reporters the day the study was released.

I warned readers then that the IARC’s conclusion was tentative at best, and that the argument over the potential dangers of cell phones was far from over. And here drops the other shoe — or study.

LIST: 5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Cell-Phone Radiation Exposure

In a new paper in the American Journal of Epidemiology researchers looked at data from more than 2.8 million Danish adults, and found that those who had used a cell phone for 11 to 15 years were no more likely than new users or non-users to develop acoustic neuromas — a kind of brain tumor that develops near the ear, where cell phones would be used.

From Reuters:

Among the nearly three million Danish adults they had data for, just over 800 were diagnosed with acoustic neuroma between 1998 and 2006. And those who’d used cell phones the longest — at least 11 years — had no greater risk than shorter-term users or non-users.

On top of that, [study author Joachim] Schuz said in an email, there was no indication that long-term cell users had larger-than-expected tumors. Nor did they have a tendency to develop acoustic neuromas on the right side, where most held their phone.

(By the way, Schuz works for the IARC, the same World Health Organization’s body that issued the earlier warning against cell phones.)

Schuz’s study echoes a recent review in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, which looked at the results of the controversial Interphone study on cell phones and cancer — which I wrote about last year — and concluded that it was unlikely that mobile phone radiation would cause an increase in tumors.

The authors wrote:

While one cannot be certain, the trend in the accumulating evidence is increasingly against the hypothesis that mobile phone use causes brain tumors.

The key words here: “one cannot be certain.” Critics of the review noted that the authors received funding from the mobile phone industry, which would seem to have a stake in a certain outcome. And Schuz acknowledged that his study was far from comprehensive:

One problem, according to Schuz, is that even long-term cell phone users had not been using their devices all that long.

Acoustic neuromas generally grow slowly, and years may pass between a person’s first symptoms and a diagnosis, Schuz noted.

“As most cell phone users started their use only from the early 1990s onwards,” he said, “we have only up to 15 years of observation time of larger numbers of users — which is perhaps too short to see an effect, if there is any.”

Indeed, researchers keep coming back to that problem: brain tumors take decades to develop, longer than most of us have been using cell phones. There are also questions about the lag time in studies, and whether they accurately capture what might happen to heavy users.

Still, your own judgment about the risks of cell phone use will come down to your personal prejudices. If you believe cell phones are guilty until proven innocent — and if you believe cell phone companies have something to hide — you’ll be wary. If not, you’ll likely be comforted by the studies that show little indication of harm. But what you’ll almost certainly never get is an absolute answer from medical science.

Updated higher radiation levels are now being admitted at Fukushima. As usual we need to consider the effects of internal exposure vs external exposure which seems to left out of most of these reports. What do you think?

With the level of severity of Japan’s nuclear disaster being upped to the level of Chernobyl, people have started to panic about the health threat from the radiation exposure.

The amount and duration of radiation exposure determines the severity or type of health effect. Increased levels of exposure increase chances of health effects. Most people associate cancer as the most dreaded effect of radiation.

However, other than cancer, the long-term health effects are the mutations or changes that happen to cell DNA because of radiation which affects it ability to carry out cell repair and cell replacement. Even small changes to DNA can lead to irreparable cell damage which could cause cancer and birth defects. It could even cause genetic mutations that are passed on to the offspring.

All human beings are constantly exposed to radiation from all kinds of sources such as air, food, cosmic rays and even when getting an x-ray done but the levels are too low to cause harm. Moderate levels of exposure can result in radiation sickness, which can cause nausea and vomiting within hours of the exposure followed by diarrhoea, headaches and fever. After the initial symptoms there might be a brief period of no illness but this could be followed by more serious symptoms. If a person is exposed to much higher levels of radiations the symptoms could start immediately, and could cause internal damage to organs which could even lead to death.

Last April, there were scrap shop workers in Mayapuri scrap market in Delhi who were hospitalized after being exposed to very high levels of radiation. The first of them was hospitalized with blackened skin, withering nails and falling hair which were recognised as symptoms of acute radiation syndrome. They had been exposed to high levels of radiation when taking apart a gamma irradiator auctioned off for scrap. Eight people were hospitalised and one person died. This is typical of very high levels of radiation exposure which results in radiation sickness, symptoms of which include burns, vomiting, diarrhoea and destruction of the immune system. This often leads to death within a few weeks.

Radiation around the Chernobyl plant caused a jump in thyroid cancer and leukaemia. Children were especially affected being at greater risk of radiation as they are at a stage when more cells are dividing providing a greater opportunity for radiation to disrupt the process. However, the Japanese have been assured that their levels of exposure being much lesser would only lead to a minimal increase in their risk of getting cancer.

This story really puts the effects of radiation exposure from the recent even in Japan in perspective historically with the experiences of a family that was living in Kiev at the time of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. It also sheds some light on the question of which numbers are actually the truth as to how many people died from that disaster. The Soviet Union had claimed a VERY low number of casualties but this number was disputed by many sources as a joke.

It’s good to hear real stories from real families to put things in perspective.

At age 11, Genia Chelekhova contracted a mysterious illness shortly after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Tatiana’s mother, Anastaciya Svyrydenko, cared for her grandchildren, Genia (L) and Mila, at a village home in the fall of 1986.

The Chelekhova family was living in Kiev when the Chernobyl (Chornobyl) nuclear disaster occurred on April 26, 1986. There was little information revealed by the government about the extent of the danger of radiation, the mother Tatiana explained.  Three days later, her young children Mila and Genia (12 and 11) were on a camping trip in the woods 45 miles from Chernobyl with hundreds of other children. Once she found out what happened from a friend, Tatiana rushed to the camp site to gather her children and others and take them away with little explanation.

The Chelakhova family now makes their home in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood, where Worldview’s Joe Linstroth met with Tatiana and her daughters Mila and Genia, as part of this week’s series commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. In 1990, Tatiana was invited by the Chicago Park District to come to the United States, after working as a flower designer for the Ukrainian government.

After the explosion, the only information Tatiana remembers receiving came from friends and neighbors giving advice. They all showered and washed their clothes, and made their way to St. Petersburg after deciding to leave Kiev as soon as possible. “The panic was so big in Kiev that people literally attacked the trains,” Tatiana said. Once in St. Petersburg, everyone arriving was inspected with a geiger counter. Daughter Mila remembers losing a pair of her favorite tennis shoes, deemed too full of radiation to keep. “We were still thinking it was a summer vacation…and then there went my trainers!” said Mila.

The family spent the summer in St. Petersburg, but it was a rough time; Genia was sick for a month with a constant fever. She eventually lost her remaining baby teeth, and described her lips and mouth turning black. The symptoms eventually went away, but says she continues to worry about the long term consequences of that illness.

After a summer in St. Petersburg, Tatiana sent her daughters to their grandparents’ summer home in the northern Ukraine for the fall, and she returned to Kiev. Tatiana remembers no longer being able to pick mushrooms or go fishing, and the odd precautions stores took to keep the radiation out, utlizing plastic strips over open doorways. She said there was no special medicine given to those exposed, but local remedies included drinking red wine to flush radiation out of the body. “The government didn’t take care of us at all,” said Tatiana.

During that time, however, the Ukrainian sense of community flourished. Tatiana said nobody relied on the government. Instead, “everybody helped everybody,” she recalled.

It was only later that the effects of the accident began to show. Ten years after, Tatiana lost both her cousin and her best friend to brain tumors. She says the cemetary in Kiev has a special section for people who died in Chernobyl, and that they were buried like nuclear waste three meters below the ground. Her work after the accident primarily consisted of preparing flowers for funerals. Upon coming to the United States, she said she was so happy there were clean flowers.

Of the lessons she learned in Chernobyl, Tatiana said she believes that information is necessary, explaining that “people get nervous when they don’t know what’s happening.”

She also added, “I am so impressed with what happened in Japan, how people evacuated, how the whole entire city was evacuated within one day.”

Daughters Mila and Genia don’t remember much from the accident, but Mila says, “I think more about details,” with Genia adding, “I appreciate nature even more because of this experience, because I am able to be out there and not worry about exposing myself to [radiation].”

Finally someone who gets it! We must know which isotopes are being detected and be looking for those with long halflives and consider the DNA binding affects.

Facts: USA EPA RadNet showed about 50% down\broken and about another 15% unreliable 1week ago on their web site. Monday they made a statement that over 90% of their stations are running. I looked at their web page and they modified the map and legend. It basically reads 100% detectors have power, but about 60% of them are sending bad data, no data, and need to be reviewed. Good Public Relations work for whoever made these changes huh?

Let’s talk about the testing. Last I views on the EPA’s PDF “current radiation levels” has CA and AL last updated about 3-20-2011, even though the report date and time are updated each day. Did you see this? Go look at it, scroll to the bottom and read what they detected in CA and AL. Many different isotopes!

How about the “IODINE” testing? Do you know that over 8 days there will be very little to detect? Do you know that some charcoal detection stations have to send their filters to the EPA? How long do they take to get to the EPA? How long before they are tested? No wonder they show very low iodine levels.

Iodine- the big lie – Myself I could care less about iodine detection because it has a short half-life. Reporters must start asking the tough questions: What other types of radiation have you tested the beef, milk, water, and air for? What were the exact levels? (sick of hearing them compare it to 1 x-ray or a normal annual dosage- PR talk) How come you did not test it for Cesium? BR? TR? Plutonium? etc…

People: do not take iodine tablets in the USA – and if you ever take them, do not take the old normal Potassium Iodine tablets. There are 3 new types that will actually flush the bad iodine out your body when you urinate. You do not have to worry about iodine levels in the USA, only the other isotopes!!!

Remember the results of the US nuke tests in the western desert. Albany, NY had the exact same readings as 1 mile from the test sites. The mid-section of the US was spared because of the wind and weather pattern. Guess the EPA missed this fact when they question MA and PA getting radioactive rain from Japan.

Will it hurt you to carry a pocket size Geiger counter with you when you go shopping (for ANYTHING)? This is the way of the future. You can now purchase them from $200+ (Entire planet is out of stock and backorders are 6-8 weeks) You cannot even find a Geiger tube to make your own. Might be the 1st device and\or item ever sold out on the entire Internet huh?

Japan blamed the nuke company, the nuke company gave out real data and then they were ordered to retest. The new test that was taken HOURS later was much less (10Million down to 100,000). It is also logical that it could be a mistake, but what about yesterday? They took massive readings from the water table, soil, air, and sea. They were then ORDERED to retake the test. No other information was released, no new results- not even the initial measurements!

You cannot believe anything from governments on this issue because it is the future, especially for the USA. If you know anything about planetary resources, it is the only way we can survive into the next 500+ years. Wind is OK, but solar is not (learn why).

Now we have a coating of radiation around the globe that was not there a month ago. We can only pray for category 3-5 hurricanes to cleanse the upper atmosphere.

Since this has started I have been posting what is logically happening on FB and then the next day or two it is in the news.
We do not care about IODINE READINGS, what about the other types of radiation that the EPA has reported is in the air from Japan in CA and AL and now food, water, etc? We want to know the types of test and the exact measurements, not a public relations “equal to 1 year of normal dosage”.

Will this harm us in the USA? It will affect our children, help with population control (slightly), and increase …

Radiation being detected in Ontario from the Japanese nuclear disaster in Fukushima is no cause for alarm, says the province’s chief medical officer of health.

“Based on current information, I am of the view that there is no health risk for Ontarians from the damaged nuclear facility in Japan,” Dr. Arlene King said in a release Tuesday.

“Canada and Ontario have strong systems in place to protect the safety of our food supply.”

Earlier in the day, Energy Minister Brad Duguid announced that for the first time, slightly elevated levels of radiation have been detected in the province.

Health Canada, the Canadian Food Agency and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission monitor radiation on a regular basis, he said.

“I understand that there is and there has been some detection of some minor increase in radiation but it’s not anywhere close to something that would be of any impact in terms of human health,” he said Tuesday. “And it’s not something that Ontario residents need be overly concerned about.”

Duguid said he’s asked federal officials to ensure Canada is learning every lesson that it can from the situation in Japan, where tsunami-stricken nuclear reactors continue to leak radiation.

“We need to be vigilant … In particular with what’s happened in Japan,” Duguid said.

The Ontario NDP raised the issue of radioactive monitoring, pointing to Environmental Protection Agency reports out of Vermont and other states that milk and drinking water show higher levels of contamination following the nuclear crisis in Japan.

“Our neighbours to the south have found radioactive iodine and cesium in their milk,” said NDP health critic France Gelinas.

“They reported their findings publicly. This is the basis of health promotion: Give the people the transparent access to the information they need so they can protect their health.

“My question is very simple: Is the government testing for radiation levels in the milk, the drinking water and the rain water across Ontario, yes or no?”

Health Minister Deb Matthews said while the federal government is in charge of overall monitoring, she would be checking with the province’s chief medical officer of health to “get a better understanding” of what Ontario knows about radioactive fallout here.

Environment Minister John Wilkinson and Agriculture Minister Carol Mitchell said the water, milk and food Ontarians are consuming is safe.

Too bad the radiation that Japan has finally admitted being so much larger that we are likely in for some serious issues with contamination all over the world. We must be prepared to detoxify more and more radiation and start to learn the differences between how it affects us internally or externally. The DNA binding effects of internal exposure needs to be accepted to be an issue at very low levels.

WASHINGTON, April 12 (UPI) — Miniscule amounts of radiation from Japan’s nuclear emergency have reached the United States but Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson assured U.S. lawmakers Tuesday that those amounts were well-monitored and far below dangerous levels.

Jackson told the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works that radioactive material in the United States in the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake that damaged Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex has been found to be “100,000th” of the radiation Americans receive daily from natural sources such as minerals found in the ground.

Even with “a blip” in the background radiation, Jackson said state agencies are alerted so there are no surprises.

The largest amounts of radioactive material were found in Alaska during the week of

April 4 but even those weren’t at a level that should concern U.S. citizens,

Jackson said.

Samples of milk taken March 28 in Phoenix and Los Angeles revealed a small amount of radioactive material that was more than 1,500 times lower than levels set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Though Jackson admitted that there are newer monitors available that detect more radioactive particles, she said that the monitors used in EPA’s RadNet system suit their current function of providing broad levels of monitoring for “events that are already known.”

RadNet is EPA’s radiation monitoring system, composed of 124 stationary and 40 deployable air monitors that the agency ships to needed areas in the United States. In her prepared testimony, Jackson wrote that RadNet monitoring equipment is used to watch for contaminants and also to look for “localized radiation” at the site of an incident.

The data collected by RadNet are collected in an online database accessible to the public through EPA’s Web site.

Jackson also spoke about the Clean Air Act and a recently proposed rule to limit Mercury and other toxins that are emitted by fossil fuel energy plants. She quoted an annual estimate of “tens of thousands” fewer bronchitis incidents, 150,000 “fewer visits to asthma-related doctors” and tens of thousands avoided deaths as a result of air pollution.

Additionally, Jackson claimed the Clean Air Act saved “$2 trillion in avoided healthcare costs and benefits between 1990 and 2020, alone.”

Gregory Jaczko, chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, told another Senate committee last week that the NRC will review safety at the 104 U.S. nuclear reactors.

In hi8s prepared remarks Tuesday, Jaczko said: “In light of the events in Japan, there will be a near-term evaluation of (NRC responsibilities for licensing and oversight) relevance to the U.S. fleet and we are continuing to gather the information necessary to take a longer, more comprehensive and thorough look at the events in Japan and their lessons for us.

“Based on these efforts, we will take all appropriate actions necessary to ensure the continuing safety of the American people.”

I’ve been warning people about the risks of using wireless technologies during pregnancy and by children for a long time – but hopefully the recent exposure of the WHO report which is being covered by CNN and all the major news networks will finally get the public to really realize this is a serious issue. It takes a long time to clarify all the details of the science because our environment has become so complex – but it’s now becoming quite obvious to those that are willing to listen…

So if you are pregnant or you have children please try to keep these wireless technologies away and don’t cave in to your young childs request for a cell phone! Our culture right now is at a turning point because socially the children want them but they don’t know what will harm them!

So as a pregnant woman who is on my computer and phone all day for my job, I am concerned about radiation exposure to my unborn baby! Especially as the president of Organic Baby University, where we teach moms to avoid dangerous chemicals and other harmful exposures during pregnancy and childhood! So, while I unplug my WiFi when I am not using it in my home, and don’t own a cordless phone, it is impossible for me to do my job without using a phone and computer.

Most people just don’t think about the radiation they are exposing themselves to everyday from cellphone use! It is so common and everyday (and new in the grand scheme of things) that most people just tune out any fears of damaging effects. There is a philosophy that there is no way I am giving it up…so it is better to not know what it is doing to me. Well, there is a better way! Let’s learn a little about what it may do to our bodies, our unborn baby’s bodies, and our children and then find out easy ways to lower exposure! It will be painless I promise!

There has been a lot of new research in the last few years about the dangers of radiation and cell phone use. When cell phones were brought on the market, they were sold without any research about the effects of the radiation. Research has shown that it damages DNA. There has been concern about a link to brain cancer.  In fact,

Mothers who used their mobile phone while pregnant were 54 percent more likely to report issues such as hyperactivity and emotional problems in their children, Britain’s Daily Mail and The Independent reported Monday.

So what can you do? You can’t give up modern life after all! Well…

First, I use an old-fashioned corded land-line whenever I can, as I know this is the safest. Learn more about the dangers of cordless phones here. Second, whenever possible, I text instead of call, as this creates less radiation. Third, I try to not use the cell phone unless it is really necessary. MOST IMPORTANT is I NEVER allow my daughter to hold it!  This is important since children are much more supseptiable to radiation than adults…in fact, they absorb up to 50% more radiation due to thinner skulls! ELF, or extremely low frequency radiation, has been linked to childhood leukemia!

Of course, as with all new studies there are the doubters. Especially when it may affect a huge, very profitable industry with a lot of power. However, when you are pregnant or have children, it is better to err on the side of caution when you can!

The newest option for when you have to use your phone or laptop is a cool new protector I found when researching when I found out I was pregnant again! It is a company called Belly Armor. I contacted the company to learn more about their product and how it worked. After all, I do have a business to run and have to use a cell phone and computer!
