Nuclear Radiation: More Harmful Than Thought
The effects of nuclear radiation are very real. Most experts that you hear about on tv and the radio will try to downplay the true extent of the harmful effects of this type of radiation. Indeed, for humans, there is no safe level that should be allowed before the authorities become alarmed.
Though the experts in thie field of nuclear radiation are usually quick to point that the physical effects of ionized radiation are seen only after being exposed to very high levels of radiation on a regular basis, the reality is far from the truth. This is supported by the stance that the popular diagnostics tool, xrays, are encouraged up to a point. There are some measures in place that are designed to help those people who either do not need to be exposed to xrays or by protecting certain areas of the body if xrays are deemed necessary by a doctor.
However, even by breathing in small amounts of nuclear radiation can be harmful to your body. This is in sharp contrast to what many scientists want you, the public, to believe about the safety of this type of radiation. In an effort to avoid making people panic and demand that the government protect its citizens, these scientists instead try to downplay the very real effects that are often seen from just breathing a small amount of radiation.
Although the effects of ionizing nuclear radiation are more pronounced the closer to the site of the release of such energy, this does not mean that you do not need to be concerned about being affected. Due to the small size of the particle, you could very easily breath them and be unaware of doing so. This can cause you to experience adverse side effects. Some of these side effects are likely to not make their appearance for a number of years. These include birth defects, cancer, eye abnormalities and breathing difficulties. It is best to err on the side of caution when it comes to the effects of this type of energy. It is vitally important to the health of you and your family.
